Charting a New Course!

When I first launched Being Bombu, it was a bit of a pet project and a personal sounding board. My goal was to create a space where I could think out loud about what I was learning as a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist. It was a way of openly challenging what I thought I knew or was coming to know, as well as a public invitation for others to challenge my understanding as well. At the time, I had not even considered the possibility of becoming a Minister’s Assistant or of pursuing formal study. Since then, I have gone down new paths that have brought me closer to my practice and given me the chance to help others become closer to theirs. Some of you have let me know that you found one of my posts very helpful in formulating your own understanding of some aspect of Jodo Shinshu. Others have engaged me in some fantastic discussions in which we both learned something new - or, at least, I did. And others still let me know they would like to see even more features on the sites, sounds, and stories that inform our Pure Land paths. All of it, from the support to the criticism, have been humbling. So I’d like to try expanding the purpose and format of the site. In the Shinshu4U section of the site, I have included a lot of great links to helpful books, websites, organizations, podcasts, and videos. Hopefully, there is something for everyone looking to learn more about Jodo Shinshu in those lists. I have quite a few other ideas as well. And so, I wanted to reach out to all of you and ask your help. I would love to know what YOU would like to see on Being Bombu. If you have a few minutes, I would be grateful if you would take the Being Bombu Content Poll. This site has always been a labor of love and it is a love that I would like to share even more.

You can take the poll here.
