If you’re interested in learning more about Jodo Shinshu or Pure Land Buddhism, there are some really excellent online sources for more information. You will probably want to bookmark some of these!

  • Buddhist Churches of America

    Online home of the United States branch of the Nishi Hongwanji subsect of Jodo Shinshu ("True Pure Land School") Buddhism. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Contains links to excellent resources for beginners and practitioners alike.

  • LA Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple

    My home temple in Los Angeles. Our doors are open to all. Join us for a Sunday service, one of our many public celebrations, or even a class or two. Offerings in English and Japanese.

  • Everyday Buddhist

    An extensive series of online classes and learning experiences designed for both those looking to learn more about Buddhism as well as seasoned practitioners. Affordable monthly and yearly subscriptions available.

  • Center for Buddhist Education

    Established in 2005, its mission is to promote and foster the BCA’s educational and ministerial training mission and goals through the application of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha teachings. It is an educational arm of the BCA.

  • American Buddhist Study Center

    Founded in 1951, the core vision of the ABSC is to enlighten the minds and spirits of Americans through the great compassion, wisdom, and teachings of Amida Buddha.

  • Buddhist Study Center Hawaii

    Established in 1972 as a part of the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii. Located next to the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, the BSC has a close working relationship with UH faculty in the Department of Religion.

    Founded in 1991, Tricycle is the first magazine intended to present Buddhist perspectives to a Western readership. Unaffiliated with any particular teacher, sect or lineage, Tricycle provides an independent public forum for exploring Buddhism.
